Frequently Asked Questions

What can I talk about in therapy

Anything that’s on your mind. You might come to therapy with a specific issue — like anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, grief, or life changes — or you may just feel stuck or unsure why you’re struggling. Therapy offers space to explore your thoughts, feelings, patterns, or past experiences in a safe, supportive environment.

How long is each session?

Sessions are usually 50 minutes long and take place once a week at a regular time.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies for everyone. Some people come for short-term work (around 6–12 sessions), others prefer open-ended therapy. We’ll talk together about what feels right for you, and regularly review how things are going.

What’s the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

Both involve talking therapy and emotional support. Counselling often focuses on current challenges and coping strategies, while psychotherapy may explore deeper or long-standing patterns. In practice, both are integrated, based on your needs.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Everything we talk about is treated with strict confidentiality. The only exceptions are if I have serious concerns about your safety or someone else’s — and I’d always aim to discuss that with you first.

How do I get started?

You can get in touch by email or phone to ask any questions or arrange a free initial phone consultation. There’s no obligation — it’s a chance for us to speak, and for you to decide if I feel like the right fit.
